What morphological adaptions does a Wobbegong Shark have to help it survive?

Hey, was wondering what morphological (body?) adaptions does a Spotted Wobbegong Shark have to help it survive?
A link to information on them too would be great!
Thanks!

They have spotted skin for camouflage, a flat body type to sit more easily on the sand, flaps around the mouth which mimic vegetation for further camouflage and rows of small sharp teeth for holding onto prey rather than cutting or tearing.

Can you keep Mice in an aquarium tank?

I have 20.3 x 10.6 (10 gal) tank. I have 2 mice and i think the cage is to small for them (i have a critter trail) and i wanted to know if I can keep them in an aquarium. and if i do will the tank stink? because i just cleaned the cage and it already stinks. So will it be the same with the tank?
i also want to know if you can train mice to use a litter box to reduce the smell?

You can keep mice in a tank, provided it is big enough, you use safe beding, and you provide plenty of suitable toys so they can climb and exercise.

A 10 gal is too small in my opinion – you want at least a 20 gal, preferably bigger. A 10 gal is barely big enough for a basic house and wheel, and will get smelly very quickly.

Make sure to use safe bedding, NOT cedar or pine. Paper beddings like Carefresh or Megazorb are best for mice. This is eve more important in enclosed type cages such as tanks, because of the poor ventilation.

Personally I’m not a fan of tanks anyway, as they are heavy, difficult to clean and do tend to smell worse than cages because of the ammonia build up. Maybe you could get a large hamster or rat cage instead – these are suitable for adult mice provided the bar spaceing is 9mm or less.

Check out this site for the best mouse info – they also have some great pictures of different cage and tank set ups in the forum to give you ideas. http://www.allaboutmice.co.uk/

What stuff do I need for a saltwater aquarium?

I have a 29 gallon tank and I am sick of freshwater aquariums so I want to take a shot at a saltwater aquarium. I really like the coral reefs so I want to make it like that. Where should I ever start. Links would be nice to. Thank you!

I’d recommend first going down to one of your local LFS’s (Local Fish Stores) and seeing some different designs of Marine tank setups. This will give you an idea of where to start.

After that – join this site, and ask more questions. Sign up is free, and there are literally tons of incredibly knowledgeable hobbyists out on this site.

How often should my aquarium light be on?

I have 4 angelfish, 3 bala sharks and a pleco and was wondering about the aquarium light. I have heard varying reasons to have the light on or off, so are there any real guidelines to running the aquarium light? The tank is in a moderate light area (Some sunlight from across the room, but no windows near by).

Thanks!!

Most tropical fish prefer equal amounts of light since the are located near the equator. I have mine set on a timer for 12 hours per day.

Still researching aquariums, what equiptment will i need, and could you define their purpose?

Im researching aquariums so that i know all i need to before purchasing. All the information i get refers to different pieces of equipment that i need, and its really confusing me because there are so many terms.

Could some one please list for me all the necessities for having an aquarium, and what their purpose is?

Filter – to remove any poo and any other waste floating in water e.g dead plants etc
heater (if tropical fish is what you want) – to heat the water
gravel – to anchor plants and ornaments to the floor, to look good and for helpfull and good bacteria to live
plants optional – create oxygen for fish in the day time but uses up oxygen at night time making it harder for the fish to breath, also to hide in, fish will like something to hide in, if you dont want hassel of live plants then fake silk ones are also safe.
ornaments/rocks/driftwood – so tanks look good and places for fish to hide
net – to catch fish
fish food – to feed fish
light – so you can see fish better and help plants with photosynthesis
bucket – for water changes
water dechlorenator
