How do I tell if my discus are a pair ??

I have 4 discus in a tank. 2 of them seem to stick together and 1 of them chases the other across the tank and they are never far apart from each other. Could these 2 possibly be a pair ?? If not then how do i tell if I have a pair ??
I have 4 in a 55 gallon and another 4 in another 55 gallon and 9 in a 125 gallon along with 18 neon tetras in the 125.

That’s pretty much what happened when mine paired up, so this sounds like pairing behavior. You need to watch if the two are "claiming" an area and picking at a certain area in a tank preparing to lay eggs. If you see one laying eggs and the other is pecking at them then that is a clue. Do you see one of these fish shivering or shimmering? They do this when they are laying eggs. Don’t be surprised if they start laying eggs and the male eats them right away… they don’t really get the hang of it for a while. I have 6 Discus and 2 pairs, two have been paired for 6 months and he still eats her eggs! lol Hopefully someday they’ll get the hang of it. It’s nice you may have a pair, í’ve read some people will have a whole tank and none ever pair up. If they do pair it’s best to try and never separate them because they’ll always be together. Good luck!

How long should I expect my new jewel cichlids to continue to hide?

I just bought 5 Jewel cichlids and put them in the tank with multiple hiding spaces. That seem to only stay in the hiding spaces. How long can I expect them to stay out of sight before they get used to me?

Jewel cichlids of all species are very belligerent, and will attack fish twice their size when defending territories/eggs/fry. Therefore you need not worry that they will remain shy forever, just give them some time to adjust to the new environment, and they will be out and moving around in a couple of days..

One of my guppies stays on the bottom of the tank?

I have a small tank with 4 guppies in it and one of the guppies spends most of its time on the bottom of the tank, it hardly comes up and swims around with the other guppies. The tank has a filter etc, have checked the PH level and the temperature and all is OK there. Is there something else I should be doing?

It could be female and super pregnant, or it could be dying. Does it eat? Does it poop? If it does, and it does not have any visible signs of parasite or fungus, then it is likely healthy. Is it smaller than the rest? Does it hide or does it just prefer to swim at a lower level than the rest? Do you ever see it interacting with the others? Do the others attack it?

aquarium supplies and deals?

hey i have a 55 gallon tank sw and some one wants to sell me these, please tell me if its worth it and what i should get

Dual Satellite Light Fixture with 4 x 65W SunPaq Lamps, 2 Lunar Light – 48 in. $165
is this good enough for corals
powerstrip $30
aquaclear power head $10
24" glass lids 5 each
ramora c protein skimmer (brand new) $200

I’m not to sure about the prices of these, but do your research first, go to your local pet shop and see what the prices of all this is there. You can also ask about the lights being good for corals (I don’t know because I only have fresh water setups).

What is the symbolic meaning of a shark tooth?

Does anyone know the meaning of carrying or using a shark tooth? Did shamans use it in the past? Medicine men? Aboriginals? Or how about the native people of Hawaii? Please tell me anything you know about the historic, cultural and symbolic meaning of the shark tooth!

warrior’s would us these for medals as a sign of strength. Warriors would also make weapons made from wood and shark teeth that looked much like a saw blade.
