I just picked up some aquarium supplies at a rummage sale this weekend. Among my take was about 4 oz. of carbon, which apparently I was supposed to insert into a filter. The filter pads I buy have the material already inside the filter, so I"m wondering–should I just throw this stuff out? Can I pour it into my filter that I use? Can I pour it into the aquarium water?
How to start breeding tropical fish?
I’m thinking about breeding tropical fish for a fun way to make a little change. I love fish and am interested in how to breed live fry. I have plenty of time to tend to the fish. So can you all give me some tips on good starter fish for me, average investment and selling prices and anything else helpful will be greatly appreciated. I plan to do some research and start in a few months. I would like to try the easiest breed first.

Do I need a protein skimmer in my saltwater aquarium? I have a sump tank and live rocks, but everytime I blow off my rocks or stir up my crushed coral an opauqe cloudy dust gets stirred up and is not getting filtered probably because it’s too small. Will a protein skimmer help, and if so what is the best type to get for a 35 gallon tank. Where is the best place to purchase one? Thanks.

yes its the same in fact i like it more cuz its the same price and you use less. for example my pond amquel is 1 tsp per 100 gallons so i only have to put in a tiny bit into my 20 gal! its very economical

I have a 55 gallon aquarium on a metal stand, I also have two 65lb dogs that I don’t want to knock over the tank when I leave! I’d like to know a way to secure the tank to the wall perhaps? Thanks
Thanks, didn’t think of making a new stand. I’ll probably do that and put a wood lip around the edge to make me not worry so much about the tank sliding off.
