As I am Canon’s died hard fans, sure I know what can Canon do. HAHA, I’ve use Powershot S1, S3, S5 at all too~ HEHE
but for the size, I like this Pentax due to it no need to add anything before you put it into the water.
S5 & this camera is in a difference marketplace, there are no conflict at all

If you compare with Canon Powershot S5 IS, yes this is shit. But I think you can’t bring S5 IS into the water, right?

  6. arkuen1981 Says:

You can try to take …
You can try to take a movie with a camera without AF as I say.
Ask a man standing away from the camera about 5 meters. Then start to take the movie. While taking the movie, ask the man walking toward the camer. You will see what is the difference of the camera with or without the AF function being taking movie

  7. arkuen1981 Says:

    If you thinking …
If you thinking that it is just a camera with a AF movie function, I think this is the world smallest camera which can do it with a waterproof. Otherwise, If you don’t need the waterproof, you can go for Canon Powershot SX1(HD Movie) or SX10(w/o HD Movie). Both of it have AF function being taking movie with no motor sound. But it would be much more bigger then this one.

The W60 records in .AVI the older Optio Wxx recorded in quicktime. I like the .AVI is less limiting.

And the AF noise bugs me too. Thought it was broken when I first bought it.

  11. farhanmizra Says:

so, if you turn off the AF function the noice won’t occur.

what’s the real deal of the AF anyway? why do we need it?

    I just bought this …
I just bought this camera as well, and I have the dreaded clicking noise on my movies. It definitely is due to the autofocus which is very dissapointing, as I thought this would be a nifty little camera. Looks like it’s going back to the store!

I had that horrible clicking noise on mine, then I switched off AF w/ recording in the Movie menu and it’s gone away, although you can still hear the motor when zooming. I’d be interested to know if you get the clicking when AF is switched on with yours.

    Yeah! It is very sweet!~
This camera have optics zoom in/out and focusing being the movie mode.
I didn’t try the HD quality, because the HD movie only got 15 fps. Seems not really smooth if you are taking the motion scene.
But 640 x 480(30fps) is ok for most scene.
One more thing is HD movie need too much HDD space to store…

Yeah! It is good for using for most of the water sport. Although that is not enough for the diving, but for the price and the movie quality of this camera, It is very good.
