    Pumpkinseeds normally grow up to 15cm (6inch), but they can sometimes reach 30cm (12inch).

    Yes, I know them. But the longears are to “special”, I’ve never seen them in pet stores yet.

    I love these fish. you can catch them in the wild in pennsylvania, here in the states. if you like these guys, you should try to find longear sunfish if you can in the stores in germany as well. they are beautiful too.

    No dude, I was talking about real queens, whose looks are capable of even turning medusa into stone. These sunfish are awesome, and look great.

    They look drab in a pond or lake, the coloration is just good to see from the side (like in a tank). Unfortunately the videos can’t show that.
    They e.g. have a light blue fringe at their tail fin.

    Yes, that’s why.When you catch one you say ‘I caught a queen’. You can catch them in almost every river or pond in my country.
    I always release them because they are so colorful and beautiful. But I told you, they are more orange/yellow than green. It must be a regional thing.
    I always compare them with the discuss fish.

    We actually call these fish ‘queens’ in my country(Romania). Very nice to see one of them in an aquarium. I tried growing one but it would only eat live earth worms. I released it in the wild after 2 weeks because it started losing the colors. My fish was more yellow/orange than green.

    Yes, thex breed 18 – 20°C (or 64 – 70° Fahrenheit). But I also read that they need a hibernation before, with temperatures between 4 and 12°C (or 39 and 53° Fahrenheit).
