Once the filter is made connect the airpipe to the air pump place the filter totally immersed and switcj on the aie pump.The air bubbles will rise in the tube and draw water with them. As this happens water will rush in through the filter down through the holes that you melted in the bottom piece. this causes a flow through the filter.

Well you could blow into the airline 24/7 for 365 days ayear but there are 3 problems with this. The first being youd blow co2 into the water. Second youd be outta breath within a few hours and more importantly how would you eat whilst blowing into it. There is a simple answer of course connect the airline to an air pump and plug it into a socket. So yes unless you can overcome nos 1-3 then you will need electricity
