Are ALL aquariums constant maintenance and upkeep?or are some easier to take care of?

are the more expensive aquariums better in terms of this?
or are they pretty much all the same?

Tank maintenance maybe equated with two things. First the number of fish you have, and second the size of the tank.

If you have more fish, then the more time for upkeep you will do. More fish will produce more waste and put a strain on your filter and water quality.

The bigger your tank is, the lesser the maintenance will be. Big tank means more water, and more water means it will take longer for the water quality to deteriorate compared to less water in a small tank.

Having filters helps in both ways to reduce your "chore". And the bigger or more types of filter you have (can become expensive) the less time you spend on maintenance. Of course, filters help reduce the time for water changes, but they do not eliminate it totally. You still have to do your part such as scraping the glass, vacumming the gravel, etc.

Want an aquarium that is easy to take care of? Get a big tank with a filter and keep only a few fish in it.

Spend extra money on the filter. That way it will require less cleaning.

i have a 10 gallon aquarium and its not bad at all if you have a filter, it only has to be cleaned about 1 time a month. The larger aquariums probably have more maintenence because your dealing with more stuff to clean and repair but you get to have bigger fish more fish and stuff. get a snail or a fish that sucks algea they can push back the cleaning time for a couple of weeks

If you want to have a healthy aquarium, you have to take care of it at least once a week (partial water change, scrape the sides, test the water, etc.). It doesn’t matter what kind of aquarium you have. However, a good filter system will help keep your tank looking good, along with regular maintenance of course.

Bigger aquariums are less maintenance and the more expensive filter the better it will work. For the most part they are all the same, but to keep it going good change 20% of the water once a month.

i actually went to find info on this ’cause i wanted a salt water aquarium..people told me the bigger the better and that for the first couple of months i would have to buy the cheap fish cause they die, since water is being regulated..If you want to go safe they said get fresh water, ’cause they are easier to take care of.

Bigger aquariums are better to maintain with facilities like filters and fish like loaches which cleans the sides of tank and plantsm Snails may help but they could be mess.becoming pests.

The tank is just a thing that holds water – get a big one, it will hold more water, more water is good. Avoid the gimmicky designer tanks, you are paying more for a very poor water container.

Then spend extra on the filter or filters, a good filter will make the tank MUCH easier to to look after.
