eww thats not a good way to start a siphon… unless you wanna drink fish water… try this… when you get water in the line lift up the hose… when water starts coming out of the bottom of the hose.. cover the hole with your thumb than put the top part back in the aquarium let it fill again… voila… instant suction without the fish breath… LOL… if you have a long hose you may have to dunk it in and out a few more times…

so do i empty all the water or just a bit and if yes how much
