What are some tihngs I can make for aquariums?
February 10th, 2010 | by admin |Like I know one person that paints seaglass with aquarium safe paint, is there naything I can make and sell for aquariums?
and even if you cant think of anything worth selling. is there anything tjat would look cool in my aquarium?
I ment more like decorations, but those are some good ideas
Sponge filters might sell well. Along with spawning mops, CO2 reactors and protein skimmers can be made at home. You could always sell starter cultures of some popular types of live foods, that’s a hit with many aquarium keepers. With a little research and planning you could be a mini online dry goods store

Breeding pots for cichilds out of terra-cotta or fired clay. Many cave-spawning species use these & they can be made more decorative than a stack of rocks. They don’t sell for much though…
You can make mini cave structures & fake rock stacks out of carved styrofoam & concrete. Sorta the same technique as on this page:

but instead of doing a full size background in the aquarium, make smaller units that you can sell.
You can go to local rivers & creeks & find aged driftwood. If you mount it to a peice of slate or concrete with a screw, its instant cash on ebay.
You can make LED moon lighting for tanks if you can solder. The raw materials are way cheaper than the end sale price.
Cichlid hotels… you can make cave structures out of pvc pipe with decorative rocks siliconed onto them.
I would buy a co2 reactor like magicman says… I’m too lazy to build one, even though its a diy project. Basically its a gravel vac or some other tube hooked up to a power head. it pushes water through a bubble of co2 & mixes it with the water at a rate that isn’t so fast as to push the co2 out of the tube.
