I currently have a single T8 bulb and the plants are doing well. I at least want to add an additional bulb. Ideally I would like to have two T5 bulbs in a mirrored fixture, like the very expensive fixtures. My aquarium is on a strong shelf and there is another shelf one foot above the top of the aquarium.
DI Y is your answer. make a wooden hood, buy some lighting fixtures and ballast, buy your lights, put tin foil on the hood on the under side, fix light fixtures to the hood, turn it on

How can I rig good aquarium lighting for aquatic plants and tropical fish without spending a fortune?
What Aquarium plants are good for my 15 gallon tank?
My tank is more taller than is longer. I have 2 fish in my aquarium. What plants do you recommend?
Water wisteria is hardy and fast growing, therefore ideal in a tall tank. You’re looking at $2 for a bunch from any pet store.
Marimo moss balls are also a great addition. Just remember, the more plants you have, the less chance you’ll have of having algae blooms.

What is more impressive: Throwing a baseball at 105 miles per hour or eating a megalodon shark?
The megalodon is the world’s biggest shark. You may be thinking it is the whale shark and I’m crazy but the whale shark is the world’s biggest shark that is proven not extinct.
eating that shark would be …
What is the movie called when the shark attacks an airplane?
It was in Conan and Andy said it was an actual movie. Anyway a shark literary jumps out of the ocean and blows up an airplane.
Jaws 2?
Do you think shark fin soup had a negative impact on environment?
I proud to the fact my state California banned shark fin soup btw.
Do you think shark fin soup had a negative impact on environmental and do you support it all the way?
I think shark fin soup may and may not have negative impacts to the environment.
-It MAY have a negative impact if they kill sharks in the ocean for the restaurant special which will definitely and obviously ruin the balance in nature. And I would definitely support anyone against this.
-It may NOT have a negative impact if the restaurants breed and raise their own sharks for the soup without taking any from the oceans. Which I think is okay so others can also eat something exotic and rare.
Has anyone had experience with the aquarium tank starter called Safestart?
I am moving my fish to a new tank and after doing some research on this stuff, I bought some but I’m not exactly sure how to use it. I was going to put 1/2 old water, 1/2 new in my tank and use new plants, gravel, rocks, ect but I’m not sure what to do after that. My tank has a betta, some mollies, and a glofish.
the good bacteria you need lives in your filter, hences you never clean your filter with tap water, so you shouldn’t need a starter
imo i would pour about 75% water in to be safe from chlorine burns
if your using a new filter put it in with the old filter for a few weeks so they both have good bacteria, then take the old one out for emergencies
How powerful exactly is the bite of a shark?
I mean like in terms of biting an arm, during surfing for example. Is it actually possible that the shark may not be able to bite a person’s arm right off? And if that were to happen, would the shark just let go after one bite? Or would it struggle with the person in the water for a while?
Thanks a lot.
It’s a 13 foot long tiger shark.
the bite force of sharks are not well studied. A 2007 study from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, used CT scans of a shark’s skull and computer models to measure maximum bite force. The study reveals the forces and behaviors its skull is adapted to handle and resolves competing theories about its feeding behavior. In 2008, a team of scientists led by Stephen Wroe conducted an experiment to determine great white shark’s jaw power and findings indicated that a specimen more than 6.1 m (20 ft) long could exert a bite force of over 18,000 newtons (4,000 lbf). that’s more than enough to cut through bone
shark teeth can be hard as steel
when a shark bites, their sharp teeth enables them to cut through prey with ease, so bite force is not an important factor when it comes to biting off limbs. example: you need to exert more power when cutting with a dull blade than you would cutting with a katana. in other words, although some sharks possess immense jaw power, chances are they don’t really need it
as a side note, the tiger shark can crunch through the shells of sea turtles, which is a lot tougher than an arm or leg
so your answer is: it depend on how big the shark is
Should I use a filter cartridge AND a bio-wheel when cycling a 29 gallon aquarium tank?
Does using a mechanical filtration (filter floss cartridge) and a biological filtration (bio-wheel) at the same time in a 29 gallon tank affect the amount of time for the proper bacteria to grow on the bio-wheel? thank you in advance.
can my aquarium grow well in a gravel only tank?
i had a aquarium dirty tank and after a year i was sick of the red/brown coloring. i recently tried to clean it recommended by someone at my local pet store. Unfortunatly doing so destroyed my tank and all my gravel went underneith my dirt. i only have two plants anyways. crypt and an onion root plant (crinium something…), my other plants died a few weeks after having them even with a new light. besides that my tank is in good condition.
There are many aquarium plants that can live just fine simply rooted in gravel. I thin Crypts are one of them, not sure about the other one, but if it’s a survivor in your tank, it’s probably OK
Others needs special conditions, lights, nutrients, CO2 to all be in balance.
If you switch the tank back to a ‘low -tech" planted tank you can run it OK with only gravel and decent lights etc.
