I’ve always been fascinated by sharks and one day I would like to own one. I know they sell small ones for standard aquariums but I would like to know what is the largest shark a person can own and what permits would be involved if any.
This varies by state. Please check with Fish and Wildlife or your laws.

What is the best filtration for a 125 gallon aquarium? (Saltwater)?
I am starting another SW aqaurium soon it will be a 125 gallon aquarium, I want to know what type of filtration is best? Also send links, for protein skimmers, filters, light, anything! How much live rock will I need? How many powerheads, what type? What should I be expecting to pay for JUST the aquarium and stand? Are overflows the way to go??? Also do over flows need to be built in from the factory or can you buy one to just insert? I will probably start out with a F-O-W-L-R system first then slowly go into reefs. What are the best products? I have had saltwater aquariums so I am not clueless on this subject, but I have never had one this size. Any help would be great!
When adding aquarium salt to an aquarium, is it safe just to pour the salt in?
This probably sounds like a stupid question, but a trio of guppies just came in the mail, and I have some aquarium salt to add in to reduce stress. Do I just dump the salt in, or what? How much salt do I need? (It’s a 5 gallon breeder tank).
Finally, is it safe to use pantyhose as a means to cover the filter? I am planning on breeding these fish and I do not want the fry to get sucked up.
freshwater fish do not need salt … it does not help with stress … if you use a good dechlorinator it helps with the slime coat which is all they need … once you put that salt in it NEVER evaporates, it will always be there … and the times when it could actually be used for sickness, if you add more, you are messing up the water … forget the salt … pantyhose is okay … rinse well under regular water and then soak in some siphoned off tank water before putting in the tank … there is a guy on ebay who sells covers for the intake of a filter that is like a very small mesh tube … it does not affect the filter in any way but protects anything like fry being sucked up :O)
Is there any sand I can use in a saltwater aquarium other than live?
Is there a cheap kind of substrate sand for saltwater aquariums? I dont want to use use live sand this time…it is rather expensive. Anyone know of a plain jane sand that is OK to use?
Live sand is sand that has live organisms growing in it. It is bagged and sold in most pet stores and kick start the cycle of a saltwater aquarium…and here’s something that will really make your jaws drop "LIVE ROCK"!!! Maybe you should know what you are talking about before you jump to conclusions that I have been "smoking something". Now if there are any REAL fish people out there that can help instead of trying to be cute….
Is it better to put an aquarium background on the inside of a tank?
Is it better to put an aquarium background on the inside or outside of an aquarium tank? I’ve heard that putting the background sheet on the inside makes the colours of the background more vibrant but I can foresee potential problems with this if algae builds up between the background and the glass. Does anyone have any experience of this?
Outside, many aren’t suitable for underwater use and will either dissolve or the chemicals used will kill the fish.
Can Use Bottled Water in a Saltwater Aquarium?
Can I use ‘Bottled’ water from a supermarket in a 33 Gallon Saltwater Reef Aquarium?
Do I need to add water conditioner?
is live sand better to put in a saltwater aquarium than coral gravel or crushed coral whatever it is?
cause i put coral gravel or crushed corals in my saltwater aquarium, then my fish becomes weaker, and im afraid they might die
Can I use expired reef sand for my saltwater aquarium?
I have a new saltwater aquarium, but the live sand I bought turned out to have expired a few months ago. Does that mean that most of the bacteria has died off? Even so, shouldn’t there should still be some, just not as much as before? Therefore, shouldn’t I be able to use it, it will just take a longer time to cycle?

If you could list any sites that have cheap shipping and good quality supplies for a saltwater aquarium, that would be appreciated. I already use www.saltwaterfish.com but are there any other really good ones that you could recommend?
