My dad dumbed almost 1000 unwashed pennies in our aquarium tank, is this ok, willl the fish be alright?

There are almost 1000 pennies in the aquarium, all unwashed and who knows where they been. My dad dumped it in the aquarium tank as decorations, and it looks amazing, especially with the gold fish. The question is, can they die out or get sick or some kind of disease because no-one knows where those pennies were. You never know meaby someone took a dump and touched those pennies with unwashed hands. Does anyone know the answer to this?

I think you are at risk for this turning into a disaster. It is going to change the pH of the water… If you read the source below… I think you might start to get an idea of the impact it could have. I am sure you will get some input from some corrosive experts. If it were saltwater it would really be deadly.
This is a really bad idea… but it might take some time to be fatal… it will be an agonizing neurotoxic death that will not be recoverable once the signs/symptoms start from the copper salts. Copper sulfate is used in pesticides. Click on the "copper toxicity" paragraph… it give the lethality formula

is it safe to get public lake water and use it for your home aquarium tank?

i just got an idea of using public lake water for my aquarium its real crystal clear water and theres no spawns or anything in the lake and theres a big waterfall will it be okay for my tank and fishs to use?

I would not suggest it. Even though it looks nice and clear inside could be thousands of parasites that can quickly attack your fish.

Also it contains other things like pollution, acid rain, etc.

A besides, the water is different from the water you normally use in your aquarium. All water looks the same, but isn’t.

For example, if you use bottled water for your aquarium, but then immediately switch to tap water (conditioned, of course) it could stress out your fish because their are different minerals and stuff in them.

what will be the behaviour of flowerhorn in new aquarium tank?

i purchased young flower horn of 2 inches but it seems to be stress and its not having food (humpy head),may i know is this due to its new aquarium tank .

Your flower horn cichlid could be stressed due to its new environment. Make sure you provide the correct conditions listed in the website bellow.
Just give it some time.

An aquarium tank can hold 6600 liters of water?

An aquarium tank can hold 6600 liters of water. There are two pipes that can be used to fill the tank. The first pipe alone can fill the tank in 55 minutes. The second pipe can fill the tank in 66 minutes by itself. When both pipes are working together, how long does it take them to fill the tank?

The first pipe can put 120 liters of water into the tank a minute (6600/55), and the second pipe can put 100 liters of water a minute (6600/66), which means the tank gets 220 liters a minute.

Therefore, it takes 30 minutes to fill the tank (6600/220).

Is there a internet aquarium/tank store that lets me CUSTOMIZE my own aquarium?

who is the best algae eater in my aquarium tank?

I have a 55G live-plant aquarium.
I tried to change parcial water(about 10G) every 2 days to keep water clean. However, hair-like algea grows on leaves. here and there..
15 Ghost shurimps, 1 mid size pleco and 3 algea eaters have already been in my tank.
I am wondering who is the best cleaner expect them? If somebody have idea, please give me the information. Thanks in advance!

Algae won’t harm your fish, but it can easily overrun your plants, preventing the light from reaching their leaves, leading to dead plants… If you are seeing algae in a planted tank, you should either start adding CO2 through a DIY reactor or a purchased reactor. CO2 is vital for photosynthesis in plants, and increased plant growth can prevent algae from receiving necessary nutrients… reduce your lighting to 8 hours a day, add CO2, and keep up on weekly water changes and you will see the algae disappear… Ghost Shrimp do not eat algae, just scraps of food (not poop) on the bottom of the tank. Algae Eaters may eat algae as juveniles (as will Rainbow and Red Tailed Sharks), but as they mature, they become extremely aggressive… Most Plecos will eat algae as they please, but would much rather eat some crustaceans like crabs or shrimp… As MonsteerFishKeeper said, Otos are great for many types of algae, but not Black Beard Algae or Hair Algae… The best way to remove these two types of algae is to prevent them from growing in the first place (with the above listed measures)… If you really want a shrimp that will eat algae, try Red Cherry Shrimp, Amano Shrimp, or Crystal Red Shrimp… Contact me if you have any questions…
