I have a 150 gallon tank full of pink cichlids and I need to capture a few to start sending them to other tanks since they won’t stop reproducing (understandable since that is what convict cichlids do best). It is impossible to net them due to the tank set up–lots of caves, shelters, flower pots, towers etc. I am looking for alternative methods to catch them safely and move them to other tanks with as little stress as possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i use this "net" with all my fish and it is great … check it out

I found you guys alot of help with my chichlid that i got. He eats chichlid pellets and bloodworm flakes happily now. Thanks. But now i have a different question, what are the best breeding chichlids. I still just have my old 20 with the jouvenile-young adult yellow and gold striped chichlid. I talked to my Best Friend who has 2 beautiful RES (Red Eared Sliders) and is going to get a small indoor plastic pond for them in about a year. he now has a 65 gallon tank for them. So, what kind of chichlids are best for open water breeding conditions. thanks!

oh, and i was possibly thinking about discus for the 65. Would they get along with chichlids?

thanks so much!

Ok, just bought a pair of electric yellow cichlids, and I was wondering what other cichlids could I put in there with them? I have a 55 gallon tank and the 2 I have now are still small like 1” ??

You can keep about 10-12 total of any other following African Cichlids, inclduding yours, figuring they will all mature at about 5-6 inches. Make sure they are all about the same size when introduced.

Kribensis
Red zebras
Compresssiceps
African Yellow
Orange Plossom Peacock
Podwr Blue
Red Peacock
Taiwan Reef
Blue Dolphin Cichlid -a standout
Demasoni- another standout
outue Dolphins ans Demasoni offer colcor conrteas, so do Peacocks, Compressiceps and Blur Dolphins offer different shapes. .

They all need hiding rocls and spaces to get away from eah oterh. If you had 2 of each of the baove the adults would need 100 gallon tank, so you have to choose. Blue Dolphins are really spectacular and the Peacocks off color contrast. Syndonotis catfish do well with all of these.
