What other cichlids can i add in my 55 gallon tank?

I have 2 Plecos, 1 Angelfish, and 7 mbunas in my aquarium. Surprisingly, it has been months since i had my fish and the angelfish is fine, unlike what most people think. This is maybe because my angelfish has been there long before the new cichlids came. (when it used to live with my oscar and pacu). Anyway, what other cichlids (or any other fish in general) can i add in my aquarium?

That is rather unusual with the angelfish, but I love it. So many "experts" are so adamant about what can’t be mixed with what. My theory is that if it works, so be it!

I would select some other Africans different from the mbunas to give a little variety. You can get small ones (they are much cheaper). Just make sure that you rearrange all of the rocks and have plenty of caves for the new ones to hide in. The larger usually don’t do much more than chase the younger ones as long as they all have hiding places.

Good luck!

What Cichlids can I keep in a 10 gallon tank?

I know Cichlids grow pretty big but I know I can keep at least one or two in a 10 gallon. What are your takes on this? What Cichlids could I keep?

There are quite a few species of Apistogrammas and also many shell dwelling african cichlids that will do well in a 10 gallon in a small group or 2-5 depending on the species. Since there are so many, try a google search for those to groups and see what looks cool to you and then find a good book on that type of fish. Also post questions back here for more info on the group you select or specific species within the groups.

What kind of cichlids would be good to keep with a breeding pair of convict cichlids in a 45g tank?

It seems like the only cichlids that wont outgrow a 45g tank are convicts, blood parrots, and firemouths. I’ve never really liked dwarf cichlids as they dont really get all that big. Any suggestions on a tank setup? I also have a 30g tank that I’m looking to populate with 1-2 cichlids of some sort.

I wouldn’t put another cichlid in there. They will probably be killed by the convicts. Especially dwarves. Try a larger schooling fish, like buenos aires tetras, tiger barbs, or giant danios.
