The 3 steps leading up to the full turn/spin

I have heard of Sera Brine Shrimps and also Sera Discus Pellets, as well as Tetra Discus Flakes.. is there anything else ?
The brand really isn’t all that important as it is essentially all the same thing. Any frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms would work very well (I use San Francisco Bay brand), and even better would be their live counterparts. Your Discus may or may not eat Discus pellets (if the pellets float, they’ll usually be ignored) or flakes.
A trick I have heard of (and am in the process of trying) is soaking the food in garlic juice to supposedly make it more appetizing, and give them the additional benefit of some of the vegetable material and other good stuff in garlic (I’m working on determing what that "good stuff" is).
My friend recently gave me a friendship bracelet and I want to wear it all the time. I throw shot put an discus. Can I wear the bracelet? I know that watches are permitted, and tape on the wrist is also permitted. Can I wear it?
You can not wear jewelry at high school meets.
Summer track and college track it is okay, but not at school meets.
I an sick and tired of adults shutting me up when i try to say what I think. I have opinions to, and i want to find a blog where i can say and discus them.
These are my favourite teenage blogs.

Besides that they are both red, andplease while your at it can I get a site that specify the types of discus.
Red Melon has more of a yellow face, and came from the earlier stock of marlboro x pidgeon blood stocks. Pictures on the internet can be deceiving depending on the light used to take the photos, when you actually see them you can see the difference instantly.
The tank is well established. I am prepared change the water once a week. Also what do you think of mail order Discus. They have much prettier ones than I have seen locally. Thank You
The narrow depth of the 55 makes it a pretty confined discus tank. The 75 gallon is a much better size to give them adequate room and allow for proper decorating too, and then you can do a group of 6, as long as you are diligent in your maintenance routine.
Discus do best and look best in groups, in the 55 gallon it’s pushing it and a pair is better. you need to establish yourself a mating pair and just ’2′ isn’t the same as ‘a pair’. . Going midway with a very small group of 3 or 4 of them tends to increase aggression issues and I don’t recommend it.
if you don’t have an answer don’t answer please…. i want to start a breeding tank of discus but i have no idea witch one is male and female.
It is very difficult to distinguish the sex differences out of mating season. During this period, the sexual papilla of the male are more pointed than those of the female. In this aspect, they are very similar to the angel fish, they even breed in the almost similar method.
A bare bottom of 20 or 27 gallon tall tank is ideal for the breeding. As they lay their eggs in the same manner as angels, a vertical surface should be provided for them to deposit their eggs on. I’ve always used an inverted flowerpot. A plant or two can be added to provide some shelter for the pair, but this is not a must. A sponge filter should be used to handle the biological load along with an outside power filter to pick up any debris.
Discus come from the warm, soft, acidic waters of the Amazon River and thrive well when these conditions are replicated in the home water. For both general maintenance and breeding of discus the pH should be kept at 6.5 and the temperature around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). Water changes should be performed weekly. However in the breeding tank, a small water change should be done every day, or every second day. This process will increase appetite and promote mating activity in discus.
If good water quality is maintained, the discus will have large appetites and should greedily accept any food offered to them. Spawning discus should be fed frozen blood worms, beef heart, Tetra Color Bits, frozen or live brine shrimp, or live white worms. If feeding beef heart, one must be careful that none is left over because it will foul the water very quickly. Live tubifex or black worms should never be fed to discus at any time, as they will introduce parasites to the tank.
A breeding pair will lay eggs as often as every week, as many as fifteen times. They will usually go through two of these spawning cycles in a year. The eggs take 48 hours to hatch, and are free-swimming another 72 hours later. Immediately upon becoming free-swimming the fry will move to their parents’ sides, and start feeding off the mucous secretion that are produced by the parents during this time. The fry will feed off their parents’ sides for as long as you leave them together, but they should be offered newly hatched brine shrimp after being free-swimming for five days.
The fry should be removed between two and three weeks after reaching the free-swimming stage, leaving them with the parents any longer may be dangerous to the parents’ health. Once the fry are removed the pair will spawn again. The fry, now in a tank of their own, should be fed six or more times a day. The best foods to give the fry are newly hatched brine shrimp and chopped blood worms. For the first few weeks there is noticeable daily growth. In the fry tank it is important to do a partial water change every night after the last feeding.
I’ve also been advice to cover my breeding tank with black plastic bag in order to make it dimmer. I practiced it for quite some time before realising it wasn’t that necessary. But it may help the pair relieving their stress.
I have a discus tank with a mixure of corys, tetras, glassys ect.
Just wondering if any other cichlids can be kept with dicus. Apart from dwarf cichlids.
And by other cichlids i do not mean angel fish.
No. At the very least, the water conditions between African rift lake cichlids and discus are polar opposites. They may be able to compromise in a middle range, but compromise should not be the point of fishkeeping. You should want your fish to really thrive, and it’s impossible in this kind of situation.
Well i do 100m in 15-16seconds and throw discus around 16metres which is the best in my year out of the girls at the moment but i want to do better.
Has anyone got any tips or advice for me?
Discus is not about strength. It’s about footwork and quickness. Size doesn’t matter when throwing the disc, speed does. Work on your form, and try to be as fast as possible. Whenever I threw, I always said to myself that I needed to get quicker. You can never spin too quickly while throwing the disc. And remember that it is all about the speed that your arm is going when you release the disc….the faster your body is spinning, the faster your arm will go when releasing.
Also, work on flicking your index finger when releasing the disc; this can add a couple of feet to your throws. The throwing angle can have an effect on your distance as well. I always read that throwing it at 41 degrees is the best, but I always tried throwing it at around 30-35 degrees. Never throw it at too high of an angle.
But, the most important thing to getting better at the discus is practice! Once you throw enough, many of these things will begin to come naturally to you. Good luck and have fun!
I am looking for Discus fish and live plants for my fresh water tank, and I would like to find a store or two that has a nice selection of one or the other. Thank you!
