What is the month and time of day that shark attacks are most common in?

If there is one, because I just discovered that the beach I’m going on vacation two has had the 3rd most shark attacks in the past year. So does anyone know?

It depends on where it is and what type of shark you’re talking about for the month. but for the most part, I wouldn’t swim in the water past 5pm. Also I wouldn’t go in the water until maybe 10:30 am. Sharks are more common within those two times. Also, when you’re at the beach, be on the lookout for dolphins. If you see a dolphin (usually you only see the fin of it pop out of the water for a second) GET OUT OF THE WATER IMMEDIATELY! Sharks almost ALWAYS follow right behind dolphins, so if you can see a dolphin, it most likely means that a shark is nearby. Hope I helped!

How many young does a Great White Shark have under normal circumstances?

How long is the gestation period of a Great White Shark?
How many young does a Great White Shark have under normal circumstances?

The gestation period of a great white shark is 14 months. They can produce 2-10 young, possibly 17. Age at Maturity: males 9-10 yrs, females 14-16 yrs. Ovoviviparous which means they lay eggs internally and the young will hatch out into the uterus surviving off the yolk of the egg and then are born. Oophagy- "egg eating" the young eat other eggs or embryos. Breed every other year.

NOTE: Shark young are called pups NOT cubs…

What can you do to prevent a shark attack while snorkeling?

If you see a shark out in the ocean, what can you do to make sure it does not attack you. Imagine shore is a good 100 to 200 yards away.

The average shark has no interest in attacking a person. Only the more aggressive species will do it and often as a mistake. If you notice, most of the shark attacks reported indicate the person was bitten once or twice. If the person dies it is most likely because of the wound after the fact not during the actual attack. There are rarely reports of sharks actually eating people. Therefore the best way to not get attacked is to respect the space of the animal. Make sure you aren’t behaving in a manner that will attract attention (thrashing around wildly like a struggling animal). And do your best not to look like the profile of their favorite food (usually seal).

What’s the difference between a tiger shark and a great white shark?

My friends & I want to see Soul Surfer so badly. One of them looked up that the attack on the main character was a tiger shark. I thought it was a great white. So therefore, I’d like to know the difference between those two sharks, please.

Great whites are bigger…but I believe tiger sharks are actually more aggressive and will literally take a bite at anything they see in their path…trash and what not.

How could a blind fisherman in the Pacific Ocean catch a shark?

How could a blind fisherman in the Pacific Ocean with only a shopping trolley, a flute and 6 bananas manage to catch a shark?

How did the blind fisherman get out into the Pacific Ocean? Whoever got him out there, can rig the rod for him too. Use a lot of pork blood as an attractant.

How do you fell about Chinese eating shark fins?

I have watched a documentary, about Chinese cutting out the shark fins and letting the sharks go. I know that the shark will not live after the fins being cut off. Is this the right thing to do to a wild life?

Of course its not the right thing to do….to let the creature die horribly just because you only want the fins is atrocious…you wouldn’t cut the leg off a pig and let it go or cut the rump off a cow and leave it to die………..

Giuseppe is studying shark attacks around the world and finds that most such attacks occur during the day. He concludes that sharks usually do not eat at night. This conclusion is
A)
not justified, since sharks can’t tell day from night.
B)
justified, since he studied attacks from all around the world.
C)
not justified, since people usually swim in the ocean during the day.
D)
justified, assuming that the sharks finish eating their kills before sunset.

E) feels hungry, and decides to have a bowl of shark fin soup.

Not quite a history question, sparky.

What exactly would be a shark jumping moment on a soap opera?

Considering most storylines on a soap tend to be more outrageous compared to their primetime drama counterparts, can a soap opera actually "jump the shark"? If so how? How come a soap can get away with crazy storylines more than a primetime show could? Does it have to do with the audience?

No, considering all the zany and sometimes totally unbelievable plots on the soaps, I don’t think it’s possible. I’ve never heard of a soap being cancelled because it went "too far". Pretty much anything goes. I do think that soap fans are more accepting of outrageous s/ls and will stick with their shows no matter what.

What is a safe way to pull a shark onto a pier?

like, a big shark. Onto a public fishing pier that’s pretty high up. I know you’re supposed to kill it as soon as possible, but what’s the best way to pull it up, any good recommendations of what kind of line to use or anything like that?

1) You can’t kill all sharks you caught. Some species are protected. Some have size restrictions and daily bag limits.

2) Use lobster hoop nets to pull big fish up the pier is one of the best methods. Normally, one lobster hoop net is sufficient. On rare occasions, two hoop nets must be used. When this happens, make sure the people working the net is experienced. They must work together or you might loose fish.

3) Use pier gaffs. Pier gaffs are giant weighted snagging treble hooks tied to a strong rope. For regular sized fish, one pier gaff is enough. For very big fish, you want one gaff in the front and one gaff around the tail; a 3rd gaff is nice to have as an insurance. Again, you want experienced guys to work the gaffs when multiple gaffs were used.

4) Some piers will allow you to pull the fish all the way up the beach. If this is possible, work with the surf and beach the fish. If there’re people willing to help, ask someone to run down to the beach and get the fish as soon as you beached it. Or, you could ask someone to work your rod to keep the fish on the beach while you run all the way down to get it.
