    Yes, my mbunas …
Yes, my mbunas terrorised my convict cichlids constantly that they died eventually. You can mix red jewel and convicts though. My orange cichlids and elongatus and ob peacock are notorious that they killed my venustus too (w/c is a hap btw).

    Convict cichlids …
Convict cichlids can get along with pink cichlids. Don’t try mixing them with mbunas or haps. They may get along for awhile but when the mbunas get bigger your pink cichlids won’t survive.

Yes i do agree with …
Yes i do agree with you, cichlids are pretty tough. But if you put bucktooth tetras with cichlids, theyll be fine. But tooth tetras, are hella ruthless, They are the only fish ive owned that have ever bite me, when i held them. And Oscars are ugly, and therye pussys. If you want a beautifull big agressive fish. Champsochromis caeruleus, is perfect. 12 inches is what they reach.

    We have the same …
We have the same types of cichlids. I have a convict cichlid w/ mbunas and haps except I don’t mix my platies and red eye tetra w/ my african tank. You shld. put them in a tropical tank of their own. No fish stand a chance against mbuna cichlids. They can even terrorise Oscars bigger than them.

    Wow
I Love cichlids, but Mine tend to eat each other. So I have to get them when they are only a few weeks old so I can tank them together without problems.
    kudo’s to you ! :D

    I run two power …
I run two power filters(both rated at 500gph each)… You can NEVER overfilter in a fish tank with the exception of having too much water flow as a consequence.

  18. NETIYO says:

    do you have another …
do you have another filter in there besides the powerfilter, and if you do what kind is it?

  19. velhg73 says:

    LOL!! They most …
LOL!! They most certainly grow to 12+ inches. A 60 gallon is not an appropriate tank for a fish that big. However, you do see the venustus at at size no more than 2-3 inches. He is now 9 inches and in a much larger tank…. 7000 gallons. You can do the math to liters and see if its appropriate for it or not. LOL!!

    thanks. Oscars …
thanks. Oscars demand big tanks. They can get to 15 inches. I personally would only put one oscar in a 75 gallon by itself. You wont like this advice but its my experience they need the room. I have 5 in a 7000 gallon pond. You can see my other videos and what can happen to oscars that are fed poorly and cramped with other fish. Its not a pretty sight.

  23. fh042087 says:

    hi there… uhm …
hi there… uhm ihave a 75 gallon tank.. how many oscars can i place in there? currently got 1 4″ albino oscar… and what do you think can i place more? (i mean what other cichlids)

by the way, your tank looks good

Not to get into a …
Not to get into a whole debate, but if your not forcing the breeding what’s wrong with hybridization, wouldn’t that happen in nature? All these breeds came from somewhere.

  25. velhg73 says:

    most mbuna are …
most mbuna are aggressive towards their own kind over other mbuna. For that reason I keep one of each in my tanks. Especially if they pair up its a whole nother world as far as aggression is concerned. They dont mind being alone. There is risk of hybridization as well but that goes for any tank with a mix of cichlids.
