I think its the … I think its the technique and wing span thats the most important.
If you are short but have long arms, the ring is bigger for you and that can give you opurtunities other guys might not have.
But the most important thing is the technique without that your nothing.
Height does help, … Height does help, but if you don’t have technique and control, it won’t do much for you. I’m a 6′ tall girl, and in my collegiate glory days there were always 5’4 girls barking up my tights lol.
woo, cool me off. … woo, cool me off. Discus throwers have been and always will be, the HOTTEST T&F athletes!!!!!!! Who was the thrower at the beginning, the first full throw filmed who blocked his throw? He was the only one who didn’t actually switch. I liked him, I’m a total blocker lol.
too true. in middle … too true. in middle school i threw discus on the track team and middle school had to get and measure highschooler’s throws , well i tried to stop onewhile skipping and broke my foot. (he was throwing 130 at the time)
it does actually, … it does actually, if you’re taller then you push the shot from a higher spot in the air, keeping it in the air longer. plus you have longer arms, keeping force on it for longer til it comes off your hand. and weight, its all about kinetic energy.
and yea theres a guy like that where i live, hes maybe 5′ nothing and maybe 170 pounds, throws disc over 180. there had to be some good positions in his throw and correct use of his body
size don’t mean … size don’t mean shit…i’m 6’4″ 225lbs an hit a PR of 146 an change in disc an a junuior that’s 5’8″ maybe 180 beat me this year cuz he spun hella fast like fazekas (maybe not as fast) whereas i worked on technique everyda to get my spin down pat….he just spun as fast as he could an let go w/o technique
being 6′ 7″ you … being 6′ 7″ you should be throwing wayyyyyyy further, you must have arms like alekna… those could take you to well over 60 in shot, maybe 70, and 200 in disc
hey i also throw 31 … hey i also throw 31 in shot and about about100 in disc however everyday after practice i lift weights …. U HEARD IT BEFORE AND YOU’L KEEP HEARING IT THRUGHOUT UR CAREER ..ITS THE TECHNIQUE!!
yea… like i’m 6’5 … yea… like i’m 6’5″ an weigh 225ish but it’s all just lean/ tone muscle….the only muscle group that you should really work while practicin form is your abs an obliques to get that upper body torque
