I’m introducing some guppies into my tank, with nothing else in it. How many guppies could fit in there without being over-crowded?
I would say 5-6 would be about as many as you would want to put in a ten gallon tank, but keep in mind they will quickly multiply. It might be better to keep a set of two females and one male, because you will have more shortly.

you want around 1 inch of fish per gallon of tank. so 10 is good, but you can have a few more, but i wouldn’t go past 14 or 15.
introduce only like 3 fish at a time, cause if you put all 10 in there at once it will screw with your water quality. introduce a few fish at least every 2 weeks.
guppies like to breed though, so watch out for that. you can have all males or all females if you want, they shouldn’t fight at all.

i have a 10gal tank with 15 fancy guppies, working on the 5th generation!
i would say about 5 guppies..but i would go no more than seven…if you get more than that there could be a problem.
-the fish can/will end up stunned
-the hormones that tell a fish to stop growing on the outside but the insides keep growing
-water quality suffers
-also the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels rise and this stresses or kills the fish directly or indirectly through diseases /parasites
overall i would just stick to 5 guppies in that 10 gallon tank.

Forget the 1 inch or whatever. Make sure you have good filtration, and I would say up to 10 fish. Ideally 5-6 adults. Make sure there are about 2-3 females per male or they will fight over females and kill each other over time.
