Only problem is if there are male and females there... They will breed often... Those that survive will also begin breeding soon also... It will not take long before the tank is over crowded... Just a few thoughts to be aware of... 1. If you buy females only, they may already be pregnant from the pet store... 2. If you buy males only, buy at least 4 to lower aggression... 2 or 3 males will possibly fight... at least with 4 the "aggression" will be split more evenly... As far as the above post mentioning that they should be kept in pairs and that they "form pairs for life", my males would mate with all the females readily... They are peaceful community fish, but I do not believe them to be "monogomus (sp?)"... 16 guppies may be o.k. for a 28 gallon tank, but not 28 liters...
