@hollywoodsaint57 …
@hollywoodsaint57 You may have something there. We could get creative. We could let the detainees in Gitmo go, putting them in leaky rowboats with a map and a compass. They could discuss issues with oceanic whitetip sharks over a meal and we are no longer responsible for holding them.

1) Most likely it was a bull shark. Possibly a tiger shark, but generally tigers dont stop, they take and eat you. If I had to guess…bull shark.
2) Local surfers tell a different story about the frequency of attacks in Fla. Basically, if you arent a tourist, it wasnt a shark attack.
3) I fish out of Sebastian Inlet and I’ve seen sharks out there as big as stationwagons. Once you’re in the water, you’re part of the food chain. Like Quint said: “I’ll never put on a lifejacket again”.

I used to live down the street from this beach in Jensen Beach/Stuart.
Bull sharks are quite common there close to shore. There are a lot of baitfish in the water in this area due to an inland estuary. I can’t remember of the mullet run is this time of year, but that kind of bait in the water also attracts them.
I used to swim at that beach all the time for years and never saw a problem. Poor guy, you would think that kitesurfing would keep you safer than swimming as you are on the move.

Poor guy… he …
Poor guy… he didn’t necessarily die immideately. What a horrible feeling to feel hopeless.. really can’t blame nature… animals eat each other all the time, we have farms… but when one human dies everything stops, it’s nature man… he died doing what he loved, but not quite in a peaceful way. Really sad news…

Being eaten by an …
Being eaten by an animal is a primordial fear, no amount of technology, or civilization can wipe that from our subconscious. Burning and drowning aren’t the same. Before man had fire or swam, he was preyed upon and eaten. Sharks, wild dogs and Hyenas would probably be the worst, while a bear is such a large, powerful animal, it would be over quickly. Crocs kill quickly too and big cats generally kill their prey 1st. Dogs, sharks and hyenas just eat you.. A few bull sharks would be really bad.

My mom lived in Vero Beach, right up the coast from Stuart. The 1st time I went down to visit I went down for a swim that night. The next day I found out that a 10 year old boy got his arm bitten of by a bull shark 300 yards from where i was swimming. It was national news. They fish for “monsters” right off the south side of the Sebastian inlet. The surfers call it “The Monster Hole”. I thought they called it that because of the waves. They catch 500+pounders off the beach there. I watched them.

With the blood in …
With the blood in the water, seasoned swimmers acknowledge the likelihood of synchronous bites. However visiting swimmers do well to find a local guide. Perhaps with a massive speargun attached to a strong net to combat these sharks.

Depends on how fast. If you spontaneously combusted it shouldn’t be that bad as opposed to being slowly roasted alive.

@CopperheadTM If a cougar attacks they typically hit from behind, breaking your neck. At that point you are paralyzed but not neccessarily unconscious. Thyen they eat a little and store you away for later
