What happen to my Rainbow Shark that keeps swimming on the water surface?

Posted by : admin

My rainbow shark is not floating, just swimming on the top of the aquarium, dipping his frontal part above his mouth on the surface of the water, continuously.

do you have an air stone? is it working properly? sounds like he is gasping for air. take a cup of tank water and pour it back into the tank slowly to create bubbles, this will temporaroly add some oxygyn to the water, do it as many times and as often as you can intill you can get better air circulation, "if that sturns out to be the problem"

sounds like its suffering from lack of oxygen. do you have an air stone? also good water circulation is important.

I had goldfish that did that (usually when they were pooping.) They might be tasting the air or something. I know they were fine, though, because they would spit bubbles at me. T T’
