Question by Clumsical ~ABCA Borders not AKC Barbies~: Aquarium lighting and dwelling planting?
I have a 55 gallon tank that I plan on some day live planting. The fish in the tank are all South American Amazon fish, so I suppose those are the types of plants I’ll be getting as well. What kind of plants fit into that category anyway??On to my real question, I have a timer on the aquarium lights and they turn on at 9am and turn off at 7pm. Is that too long to leave them on?

I’m not 100% on the plant types but for most tanks the plant type won’t really matter as the fish are more sensitive than the plant. All of my tanks lights come on at 11am and go out at 9pm so your photo period is not to long. I do have mine set so that actinics come on at 9am and go out at 7pm but the daylight bulbs are on a different timer and they come on at 12pm and go out at 6pm. So the daylights are a shorter time.
