Freshwater Aquarium Filters

Freshwater aquarium need to be clean and tidy all the time.  Just like any environment where dwelling things expand on it fish hates to rest in unclean surrounding.  Manual cleaning is good but there are more convenient ways of cleaning the aquarium through using fresh water aquarium filters.  Manufacturers automatically include filters that can be easily installed inclusive to whatever aquarium people would buy because they feel the involve of the users.

How is water tank filter works?
Over a period of time an aquarium can accumulate waste from different sources.  One of the reasons for that are the biological reactions forthcoming from the spoiled food leftovers and wastes coming from the fishes themselves.  Whatever forms they come from they quieten need to be take and the whole aquarium environment must be cleaned to prevent fostered damage to the whole aquatic environment.  Aquarium if not cleaned can cause stress to fish, change in water environment, increase in ph level and these things if left unnoticed for a hankered time can eventually lead to sudden fish death.  To avoid all these things to happen there are 3 general ways how to clean the mess inside your freshwater aquarium namely Biological filtration, Chemical filtration and Mechanical Filtration.

*Biological Filtration*
This is the natural process of removing all the waste and waste sediments inside your freshwater aquarium.  This utilizes beneficial bacteria as an effective agent to breakdown toxic materials into a lesser toxic one.

*Chemical Filtration*
It involves using synthetic materials to combine with the waste materials inside the aquarium.  A powerful reaction took place wherein waste materials dissolved and transformed into a form that can be collected and thrown afterwards.  Activated carbon is a good material for chemical filtration.

*Mechanical Filtration*
Manually trapping solid waste materials in a filter media is a mechanical filtration way.  Periodic removal of waste from filters are done though this doesn’t involve dissolving or breaking down materials but this is an effective means of filtering out solid waste from the fish tank.

What are the available filters to be used then?
Freshwater aquarium filters can be commonly purchased at hobby stores in your area.  There are a variety of filters to select from for your filtering processes needs.  Here are the most typical ones of aquarium filters:

*Power Filters*
These are the most common filters used in any fish tanks because they are affordable, efficient and readily available.  Maintenance is simple and easygoing to install and is one of the filters that can actually use all the three filtration methods depending on how you design the power filter’s settings.

*Canister Filters*
Canister filters a little bit difficult to maintain but these are among the most powerful filters that you can use for your cleaning processes.  The filters forced water through the filter media not letting it to pass through making it more effective in cleaning the mess inside the aquarium.

*Corner Filters*
The seeking of developing more effective filters started with the corner filters.  They are considering as the fore runners of the most modern filters that are used today.  Filters’ basic functions are letting the water pass through it; strained it appropriately with the use of a properly installed strain media.  Corner filters are really reasonable in cost that many can dropped to buy and are commonly used in hospitals.  Though discoveries of more effective and modern ways of filtering are present nowadays still modern filters evolved from the least popular corner filters.

Freshwater aquarium needs cleaning on veritable intervals whatever types of filtration process you choose the most important thing to do is start the habit of cleaning your aquarium regularly.  Aquarium cleaning made easy through using strain of your choice installed into a proper filter media. Make your freshwater aquarium an enjoyable experience by making it clean and kempt all the clock.

This is just MY comparison of the two aquarium water test kits I have. They are both sold/manufactured by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, INC. I have called the blue bottled test strip type API and the glass tube box type Aquarium Pharmaceuticals for ease of understanding which one I am referring to. Hope this is of some help to many people testing aquarium water quality with any of the two test kits I have used. This was my test and my point of view. If you have any suggestions or if you have a different view of how any of the test results work for you, I would be pleased if you ask questions or leave comments. Thanks for viewing.

Question by Random Loner: Aquarium Maintenance?
in my 35g tank.. i have 8 small jelly bean parrots… so i was wondering on when do i do water changes and how much should i change? and how do i clean it the same goes for my 10g with 40-50 fry of the jelly bean parrot…… please anything regarding good maintenance of my aquarium… thanks!!!hope to get answers for both tanks… hihihi..

Best answer:

Answer by Robert M
i would go out and buy a narking cleaner. start cleaning your gravel every 2-3 weeks with it, stop when you drain about 20-25% of the water. this way your cleaning you gravel often and only changing about 20-25% water every 2-3 weeks. this counts for both tanks. Tip: keep your finger over the tube of the gravel goose, once fish come to close or get to noisy cover the tube and let them swim away (so you don’t suck up any fish, extra pity with the fry)hope thsi helps :)

Will Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Amazon Extract Cichlid aid a 20 gallon convict cichlid breeding tank at all?

Question by Will L: Will Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Amazon Extract Cichlid aid a 20 gallon convict cichlid breeding tank at all?
hi!i am cycling a 20 gallon tank that will house a pair of convict cichlids. i use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Amazon Extract Cichlid in my green terror breeding tank and i was wondering if it will help the central american convicts at all? should i add it?thanks!heres the link… http://www.marinedepot.com/Aquarium_Pharmaceuticals_Amazon_Extract_Cichlid_8oz_Additives_Supplements_for_Cichlids-Aquarium_Pharmaceuticals_API_MARS_Fishcare-AP1234-FWADSATEFSCI-1-vi.html

Best answer:

Answer by Sarah
Amazon Extract for cichlids will help them breed happily and it will create a suitable environment for the cichlids, however I regret to inform you that a 20g tank isn’t suitable for breeding cichlids. For ane convict, the minimum tank size that it should be housed in is a 20g. When engender, those fish require more space, especially if you are planning on keeping the fry in there so that they can be raised by their parents.A 45-50g tank is more ideal. It won’t hurt to add it weekly, after all it isn’t very expensive, so I recommend you infect it an assay – once you upgrade your tank.

The NYC Aquarium, like virtually everything else in NYC, is old and sucky… but still packed with populated… I liked the sea lion show though, it was basically an educational ad / promo from those nature preservation organization. Too bad 90% of the audience wear’t speak English so they’ll keep to eat lots of seafood and destroy ocean life.
