Is this too much for an aquarium heater?

Question by —-: Is this too much for an aquarium heater?
I posted an ad on craigslist looking for a heater.I got a call from a guy with a 25 watt Marineland neptune heater. Asking $ 10. It’s for my 10 gallon breeder tank. First off, istwenty-fivewatt too small? And second of all, is $ 10 a high asking price?I also got a call for a heater for $ 5. Said it’s for his 15 gallon. A few extra min drive. Ahhhh!

I wouldn’t worry about it, $ 10 really isn’t that practically of an investment, especially when you’re keeping fish! Fishkeeping is expensive.A 25w heater would only keep a 10g at a temperature of 50F max, you should look for a 75w heater to keep the temperature around 80F.http://freshaquarium.about.com/od/heating/a/heatersizeguide.htm

NEW 48″ 216W T5 HO Aquarium Grow Light Hood Marine Reef Fish Tank LED Freshwater?

Question by : NEW 48″ 216W T5 HO Aquarium Grow Light Hood Marine Reef Fish Tank LED Freshwater?
114.95 can i buy one of these and put it under myfish tank canopy

Best answer:

Answer by nemoose
It probably wont fit under your canopy without a lot of retrofitting, They are designed to be free standing with or without a glass lid. That is not much light for that size tank. If you are planning on saltwater you will barely be able to keep the low light corals like mushrooms and nothing in the moderate range. I have a 36″ T5 156W light on my 30 gallon reef. You should be more in the 350-400 W range for a 120 for a reef tank. It might be ok if you are just doing a freshwater planted tank.

Aquarium decoration question. (A conch shell)?

Question by Vin Redding: Aquarium decoration question. (A conch shell)?
Hi, my parents just came from a vacation in Cuba and they brought me a rather large Conch shell that looks awesome. However, I was wondering if its safe to place it in my freshwater fishtank. The shell was not picked up from a beach and then just taken home… it was bought at an artisan shop and no paints or anything were added to it as far as i tin tell.It has the distinctive glossy look with natural colors and designs that i really cant imagine a human doing it.So….Would it be safe to add it to my aquarium?

Depends on your fish. Find your fish at the following link and review the temperature requirements. Use a thermometer, sometimes heaters don’t have accurate set points.
