Question by Kelly Fuller: Aquarium heater for my red belly turtle baby?
I have a ten gallon tank and a baby red belly capsized. I noticed the other night the water was cold and got worried. I have a basking lamp and UV bulb so he can warm up during the day but I sleep with a fan on and my house is always cool. Do I need an aquarium heater even though I have a basking light etc?

yes, baby turtles spend a lot of time in the water especially at night when it’s coldest. run the heater at 80F. try to put rocks under and over it so the turtle doesn’t get in the habit of wedging next to it and getting burned. make sure that he tinning climb to the basking area. baby turtles often find it too difficult and won’t bask enough. if you have one of those float basking area things, do it easier to get onto, perhaps weight it down so that the ramp is reefing in the water. being too cold is the leading cause of illness and nutritional deficiencies in turtles. good luckedit: don’t buy the cheap heaters, you want a good thick fully submersible heater and a thermometer.

On Wednesday, March 10, Jade, an 11-year-old Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, gave birth to her second calf. The new calf joins 10 other Atlantic bottlenose dolphins in the Aquarium pools, including two other youngsters. The calf has been swimming along alongside Jade and Shiloh, a 31-year-old experienced mother, taking synchronized breaths with Jade, and has started to nurse!
