Question by : How do you save a dazed catfish after putting it in an aquarium with a strong filter?
5 gallon aquarium, 3w filter 240ml/m rate… i reduced the filter to a weaker one already but my catfish had been swimming with the strong current for about 8 hours… It’s not really moving but the gills are.. it just ate one of the feeders too so maybe that’s why.. I’m asking this because all the feeders in the tank are now dead… is my catfish gonna die too? what can i do to help it? thanks!

well how many fish are in your tank? What type of catfish? a cory? a 5 gallon tank tin only hold so many fish… and if you have more than 5 fish that is why your other fish may be dying. the ammonia levels may be going crazy. the filter most likely has nothing to do with it, unless of course it needs to be changed. =Palso when did you add it? it could just be a little shocked. my oto did the same when i first added it and then it just kinda got over whatever spooked it. it is hard to tell really…anyway best luck with your fish.

Question by Samuel B: How can i make a small aquarium filter using a bottle and an air pump?
Unfortunately the only pump i have is an air pump. Is there a Way to make a DIY filtrating using these items?

Answer by Johnka
Attach tubing to air pump so it goes to the bottom of the bottle in tank.I’m assuming a plastic bottle – cut holes around the botton. Stuff the bottle with aquarium quality class wool.Put in tank, rising bubbles exit passing of bottle drawing water in at the bottom and debris is trapped in glass wool. Clean every few days.

Question by : where can i find instructions for AQUA-tech 30 60 filter for my aquarium?
I just purchased a large fish tank with numerous accessories. there’s at least 1 or 2 power filters here, but NO papers, Instructions to set them up. One is the AQUA-tech 30 60 newly redesigned filter, unknown what the other is. And most all of the parts are not hooked up. All in pieces. This is my first aquarium and I want to make sure i put it together correctly and have all of the parts for it. Please help?

Answer by Nigel W
They are fairly easy to assemble. The main thing to remember once you have assembled it is to fill the well with water (this is called priming) before turning it on.Just looking for an online manual, in the meantime I found thishttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-APcHf8VdwThe manufacturer contact information. http://www.aqua-tech.biz/sites/AquaTech/FAQAbstract.aspx?id=86&catID=67&srvid=Aqua-Tech&cat=Aquarium+Product+Setup

Question by Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z: What is the proper way to clean an aquarium filter?
I have an aquaclear hang on the back filter for my 70 gallon tank, When I clean the filter do I put a new sponge on or just squish and clean the old sponge in a bucket of tank water? What about the white stones in the filter? Here’s a picture of the white stones on top of black bag. http://www.affordableaquariums.biz/Aquaclear.JPGI have 2 sponge’s instead of a carbon bag is that ok?
Best answer:
Answer by Yara
Yes, squish the sponge around in a bucket of tank water to clean it. This will clean the sponge without destroying the beneficial bacteria. The activated carbon makes the water clearer, and removes odors. I use carbon in my filter, and I would recommend it.As for the white rocks, I’m not sure.My guess is they are the ceramic things used for biological filtration? In that case you wouldn’t replace them nor would you wash them. The sponges act as mechanical/biologic filtration. The white rocks act as biological.Activated carbon would be chemical filtration.-EDIT-No, carbon is not necessary, but it takes the color from the tannins released by the driftwood I have really well and seems to last longer than a few days.
