I’m not sure how well it will work because in order for it to work the irrigated has to be forced through it, but you can essay it won’t hurt.

Hi, I have late set up a breeding tank with a hang on filter, it has an attachment called a “venturi”or something like that, does anyone else have one of these? What does it do and is it any good?Thanks

A venturi pretty much works like and air pump. Venturis are used more often in ponds than aquariums though. They keep the water moving and aerated, keeping oxygen levels up. So yea, it’s good thing.

Question by Noir: Cloudy water after aquarium filter installation?
I bought a penn plax small aquarium filter yesterday it was working fine, today the water is slightly cloudy. I made sure to run it under water for a few minutes before I placed it in the tax. (It is a filter made of sponge and carbon.) Any ideas on what could be wrong?

its fine it sometimes does that from the extra dust it should go away, i use to wash it only a bit to get some out before i put it in my tank

I was thinking about getting an UPS (uninterrupted power supply) for my new filter, because whenever we have lost power in the past, it messes up the motor and eventually I have to buy a new filter. Sometimes the power just flickers on and off a few times, and that is enough to do damage.It would probably go for about 15-30 minutes.

If the power goes off and the fish get sick because the water is too cold or too dirty, you will wish that you had use an UPS. On the other hand, if they are inexpensive fish and easily replaced, skip the UPS.

Just bought the filter and love it but some of my fish headed to the top. I thought for air so I turned the air pump on. I prefer to totally quite. Do you use an air pump or something similar with your Eheim filter?

Sounds like you have a motorized magnet drive filter. It won;t air-ate the water well. The surface of the water has to be broken in order for oxygen to enter the water { bubbles} Try to get your filter to skim across the top or splash splash in when the water returns. Other than that you should use an air pump.

My straining is spinning but not sucking water up. I put water half way up and still tin’t get it to serve. Any help would be appreciated.

First try filling your aquarium all the way up, plus add water inside the filter. If that doesn’t work, take out the motor in the filter. There should be an impeller inside (the thing that spins around). They are magnetic and tin be pulled out. Pull it out and clean it. It sounds like it’s jammed with gunk.
