Question by Death is upon us: I bought an aquarium heater for my betta fish today question PLEASE HELP?
Hi swelled i bought a betta fish and two mountain minnows about a week ago i didn’t know that the betta was a heat lover so today i bought an aqua heater but since the’ve been in cold water will he suffer shock from stale to warm irrigate? I read on the internet to slowley higher the water temp each day so my betta gets used to it. What should i do? Thanks!

Answer by Rainbow Child
set the temperature to what it should be. It slowly heats up and your fish will be okay.Set it for 74 -78 degrees. And leave it alone do not switch it off ever. The heaters have a cut reveal point. when they needto heat up again they do, but the water never goes below what is should be.The optimal range of water temperature for your Betta fish is 74 -78 degrees Fahrenheit. It could go downwardly to 72 degrees or up to 80 degrees and still be o.k., but 80 – 82 degrees is usually used for hospital tanks where you separate out the sick fish and add medication for their specific disease and keep your fish warm and in a more relaxing, tension free situation as much as possible where they can heal more quickly.

Q&A: Mysterious Betta Fish Deaths?

Question by Brian C: Mysterious Betta Fish Deaths?
Two of my 8 bettas died mysteriously … I need some help.(1) They died really quickly. One day, they were eating like pigs, then the next, they would not eat anything and stay at the bottom. And on the following day, they died.(2) All of my other bettas are happy and fine, and I treat them all the same way. They have their individual 2- or 3-gallon filtered tanks that are cycled (ammonia/nitrite reading 0 daily for several weeks now). I do a 50% water change every week. I use filtered water (with Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Tap Water Filter) with the recommended amount of Electro Right and Ph Adjuster (for ph of 7.0). I have the thermostat set at 80F. I feed them primarily Hikari Bio Gold Betta pellets, with glaciated dried brine shrimp and bloodworm thrown in once or twice a week for variety. So I’m not sure what I’m doing wrongly.Initially, I was feeding 5 pellets once a day. Now I do only 3, just because I can’t think of anything else I could be doing wrong. What’s going on?

Did you let the water sit for a certain amount of clock before you put the fish in? I intended after you added the treatments?

What sort of tank / equipment / fish should I get if I am just starting out with a salt water aquarium?

Question by : What sort of tank / equipment / fish should I get if I am just starting out with a salt water aquarium?
I’m looking to spend no more than about £400. It will be my first salt water tank although I used to own a tropical tank. I will be looking to upgrade the size of the tank with more fish as soon as I get comfortable with a smaller one.

Contrary to popular belief, it’s better to start with a larger tank than a small one. In a small tank, there isn’t much water volume and thus not much margin for error. When something goes wrong, it goes wrong quickly and you have less time to fix it before it starts to adversely affect your fish. The best tanks for beginners (or those returning to the hobby after a long time away) are larger tanks such as a 55 gallon. If you have a particular size in mind to upgrade to later, the room to put the larger tank, and the budget for it, the best thing to do is start with the larger tank right off and lightly stock it.

Need digital fish aquarium heater recommendations?

Question by Billy Y: Need digital fish aquarium heater recommendations?
I am wanting to get a digital heater that stays on a set temperature and need recommendations for good ones. I’ve had heaters in the past that just have the turn knob style and when I had them the tank temperature was never steady, sometimes it flushed got too hot. I need one that will keep the tank at the temp I want and keep it there. Any recommendations would be great! Thanks!

What and how often do I have to change the filters on my fish aquarium filter?

Question by ktrio730: What and how often do I have to change the filters on my fish aquarium filter?
I am purchasing the Marineworld Penguin BIO-Wheel Power Filter for a 30 gallon fish tank. I was wondering if I have to change the filter AND the bio-wheel seperately, and also how often I should change each one. Thanks.

About every 3-4 weeks because it gets filled with a whole lot of gunk by then and pretty much useless you shouldn’t reuse any pads or wheels unless it says reusable
