There are many advantages of having freshwater fish as they tin adapt to most home fish aquariums. Compared to saltwater fish they are more relaxed and less formal, therefore freshwater fish is the perfect choice for beginners. They get along with both tropical and cold water fishes. Freshwater fishes include the common goldfish, the banjo catfish, the reed fish and many more.

Goldfish

The goldfish is usually found in slow, flowing dwellings. They are capable of adapting to different water temperatures. Goldfish are usually found open pools. They are colorful fish who originate from eastern Asian waters. Common in many home and are usually kept in tanks, ponds or kept in aquariums.

Cold water fish like the goldfish can adjust to cool waters. This means it may not be necessary to purchase a heater given that you are only housing fishes of this nature. Goldfish thrive in tropical environments. However, you still have to strike the correct water balance in accordance temperature. They need oxygen; this is why most goldfish swim to the surface to get air into their systems.

A happy Goldfish :)

Reed fish

Reed fish likewise known as rope fish thrive in well planted tanks, and require the temperature of the water to be set between 73° to 79°F. As a result of this they sometimes find it hard to settle in Goldfish water. Before buy a reed fish make sure you read the manuals astir them and position questions at your local pet shop in order to find out more about the environment they thrive.

Good Luck

Australia – Sydney Aquarium – Jim Rogers World Adventure Traveler

Copyright, Jim Rogers all rights reserved – provided as a special contribution to FentonReport Sydney Aquarium is a public aquarium located in the city of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the eastern (city) side of Darling Harbour to the north of the Pyrmont Bridge. The aquarium contains a large variety of Australian aquatic life, displaying more than 650 species comprising more than 6000 individual fish and other sea and water creatures from most of Australia’s water habitats. Its key exhibits are a series of underwater, see-through, acrylic glass tunnels where sharks swim above visitors, and recreation of a Great Barrier Reef coral environment. The Sydney Aquarium was opened in 1988, during Australia’s bicentenary celebrations, and is one of the largest aquariums in the world. It is regarded as one of Sydney’s premier tourist attractions with over 55% of its visitors each year coming from overseas. A crocodile exhibit is being planned for 2008. In 2006, Sydney Wildlife World opened next to Sydney Aquarium, which is owned by the same Sydney Attractions Group.

Beautiful Fish At The Vancouver Aquarium

We love snorkeling in the tropics and seeing fish in their natural habitat, but not everyone has that opportunity. Aquariums are a great place to take kids and introduce them to the wonders of our oceans and to teach the importance of conservation and environmental responsibility. The oceans belong to all people of the world and as such it is all our responsibility to save the oceans and the wide variety of life that depends on water for existence. On the day that Cindy and I visited the Vancouver Aquarium it was full of school kids, and hearing their excited voices at each new discovery was awesome. I wish we could persuade the government to fund more projects like the Vancouver Aquarium and to bring more school kids to discover the wonders of the sea than giving money to large businesses and industries that find themselves in trouble due to bad management. I can only hope. Arapaima (as known as the Paiche) is one of the largest freshwater fish in the world reaching lengths up to 14 ¾ feet
