Question by jplasichuk: what is the best lighting system for a coral reef aquarium?
i am building a 10,000 gallon saltwater tank and i cannot determining what lighting system and light bulbs i should purchased . I went to a local aquarium store and they didnt know either. I want a light that will be selfsame very good for the corals health and the fish. Something that tinned be pose to imitate the sun rise to the sun set or something like that.

Best answer:

Answer by Ca la G
10,000 gallons? i don’t know, the biggest home aquarium i’ve ever seen is 800, and that’s HUGE. i imagine you should use about 100 250w coat halide. that should come out to be 2.5 watt per gallon. which is considered high light for any aquarium over 200 watts.

What do you think? Answer below!

www.diyfishkeepers.com This video shows how to build a very simple aquarium filter. This DIY aquarium filter is most valuable in a QT tank, hospital tank, or used during a power outage. This filter is an internal box filter typewrite of filtration. Not to mention, not only is this filter effective and real useful, but it is also very cheap. You should have most rendered on hand at any granted time to have a superfluous filter cared this ane available when needed. Very useful as a “emergency” filter.

WHITE + BLUE LED Aquarium Reef Corals grow light Panel.
Solid State, Cooler Running, High Efficiency, Dual Color Blended Full Spectrum LED plant lighting. 100V-240V, This panel has no ballasts to burn out like other aquarium or plant lights. It runs at a warm temperature rather than very hot which is common with most other inefficient plant lights. This more controlled running temperature reduces water evaporation and keeps rooms with tanks and plants from getting uncomfortably hot in the summer

Question by dgksdlyfe: what is the best type of lighting for a saltwater reef aquarium?
I have a 45 gallon aquarium and i desire to make it a reef and desire to know what is the best lighting to use.. would it be fluorescent or metal halide or what?

Best answer:

Answer by Barry G
It all depends on what type of reef inhabitants you want to maintaining. If you are planning on keeping Hard corals then MH or VHO lighting or a combination of either of them and PC. MH=Metal HalidesVHO= Very High Output T5 florescent bulbsPC= Power Compact Without know what size tank or the typewrite of corals you want to keep it is hard to point you in the correct direction. If you want to gather your facts and email me that would be fine use subject line of fish fish fish barrygeller@yahoo.com I have been teaching saltwater and reefing for years and years about 35…. I hope that this was helpful
