The Big Tank at The Georgia Aquarium
This exhibit was specially designed to house whale sharks, the largest fish species in the world. Schools of predatory trevally jacks, squadrons of small and large stingrays, enormous goliath grouper, largetooth sawfish and hammerhead sharks all ply the waters of this captive ocean habitat containing more than six million gallons of saltwater. The big tank is 4,574 square feet of viewing windows, a 100-foot-long underwater tunnel, 185 tons of acrylic windows and the viewing window is 23 feet tall by 61 feet wide by 2 feet thick.

Shark
The year is 1978. A team of 12 year olds have decided to make a Super8 film of their own based on Jaws. (It’s what everyone was talking about at the time). This may not be as slick as today’s digital videos…which makes it even more genius. (we had to pay $20 [a lot for 12-year olds in 1978] for every 3 minutes of film) And wait till you get a hold of the shark we built…..(it sank after the first scene and you’ll only see the fin after that. This six-gill shark (Hexanchus) was filmed during a submersible dive off the northeast coast of Molokai at a depth of 1000m (3280ft). The 2 red laser dots are 6 inches apart, resulting in a length of about 18 ft for the shark.

Atlantis Hotel Aquarium
Amazing aquarium! The one in La Rochelle in France is small comparing to this one.
”A four-metre-long whale shark that was spotted by a local fisherman off the coast of Jebel Ali – United Arab Emirates, has been captured and moved to an aquarium at the new Atlantis hotel on the Palm Jumeirah.The hotel said the shark was clearly under duress when it was sighted and its team of biologists and veterinarians made the decision to move it to the 11-million-litre lagoon for medical care and observation, due to the high temperature and salinity of the water it was in. A representative of the hotel said she was unable to say when the whale shark would be returned to the wild. The spokesperson, who said that the protected species was rescued on August 28, added: Staff at Atlantis are monitoring her. They cant speculate when she will be released.
