Amazon Extract for cichlids will help them breed happily and it will create a suitable environment for the cichlids, however I regret to inform you that a 20g tank isn’t suitable for breeding cichlids. For ane convict, the minimum tank size that it should be housed in is a 20g. When engender, those fish require more space, especially if you are planning on keeping the fry in there so that they can be raised by their parents.A 45-50g tank is more ideal. It won’t hurt to add it weekly, after all it isn’t very expensive, so I recommend you infect it an assay – once you upgrade your tank.

Keeping an starfish in a saltwater aquarium?

How hard are starfish to care for? I have a 110 gallon saltwater aquarium. Are starfish hermaphodite and can they self fertilize? I don’t want anything that can self fertilize because you end up with about 1000 baby whatever it is you put in the tank.

How long should I wait before adding more fish to my saltwater aquarium?

I just set up my 72 gallon saltwater aquarium. Once I got the water ready and the filter hooked up and everything I added a few starter damsel fish. 3 to be exact. Im doing this to get the biological filteration going in the tank and to get all the good bacteria acclimated to everything. How long should I wait before adding more expensive fish? When will the biological filtration get adjusted to the point where it can handle all kinds of fish?

Is this to many fish in my tropical fish tank?

I have 1 male Convict Chichlid and 2 female Mbuna chichlids in a 30gallon tank with caves and plants. I frequently change and relocate their caves and hiding places. Is this to many fish in my tank, if not can I put anything else in there? Or do I need to upgrade to a bigger tank?

Thanks for the help!
The fish aren’t very big..the biggest one is the Convict and hes less than 4 inches. The others aren’t more than 3 inches.
They all seem to do fine w/ eachother…No fighting etc..

How to keep an aquarium from knocking over?

I have a 55 gallon aquarium on a metal stand, I also have two 65lb dogs that I don’t want to knock over the tank when I leave! I’d like to know a way to secure the tank to the wall perhaps? Thanks
Thanks, didn’t think of making a new stand. I’ll probably do that and put a wood lip around the edge to make me not worry so much about the tank sliding off.

Garden open bottom aquarium in the night

NATURAL OR ARTIFICIAL PLANT ? NATURAL PLANTS Live plants form part of a natural habitat for aquarium fish, and offer various other benefits. During the day, they consume carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, and thereby contribute towards a healthy environment. They compete with algae for nitrates in the water, and thus inhibit the latters growth. They may also host beneficial bacteria that aid in the breakdown of waste. THE DISADVANTAGES While live plants produce oxygen in the day, the reverse happens at night. If there are many plants in your tank, the carbon dioxide level could rise dramatically while the oxygen level drops. So it is best to use an air pump to aerate your aquarium at night. Live plants can also play host to various pests such as snails. ARTIFICIAL PLANT Artificial plants is hassle-free. They dont die, decay, grow too big and will not get dirty or covered with algae. Best of all, they are durable, and therefore you can save in the long run. They do not affect oxygen levels, day or night. They are easily removed, cleaned and will not carry pests or parasites. Best of all they can do without light. THE DISADVANTAGES They neither absorb carbon dioxide nor give off oxygen. They dont host beneficial bacteria that can help with filtration. They do not inhibit algae growth, since they obviously dont consume nitrates. FINALLY Most aquarium will do well with either live or artificial plants provided you plan properly.
