Q&A: 100% water change and the water’s a little cloudy still?

Question by Jessicaaa: 100% water change and the water’s a little cloudy still?
I have an Eclipse Hex 5 and I’ve had it for half a year now. Yesterday, I did completely cleaned the tank. Gravel, water, and all. I was recently treating my betta with Fungus Cure from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals and it turned the water green. After cleaning my tank I noticed that the irrigated turned a tenuous green after the debris has settled. I was wondering why? Also, it has cleared up a little but the water is still a tenuous green.

Apparently, while I was at work and my wife was visiting a friend, the air line for my wet dry Ehiem 2070 filter "popped" loose from the hood and the tank started emptying.Thats about 180 litres of water under the laminate somewhere.I suppose I should be grateful it didnt happen while we were trapped in Spain and the whole thing would have emptied and the fish died and the heater cracked and ghod only knows what else.It still bites though. £100 insurance excess for starters.

salt water aquarium testing?

Question by Im AwSoMe: salt water aquarium testing?
i have the API (Aquarium Pharmaceutical) 5 in 1 aquarium test strips, but i don’t know what the general hardness, Carbonate hardness, Ph, No2, Or No3 is suppose to be at. We lost the paper, good thing we don’t have fish or live rock yet. so what are they suppose to be at? and is there anything else we should be testing for? and do u think after 1 week its O.K to get live rock and (maybe) a snail or star fish, we already have jampacking growing on the sides of the glass.so if at 1 week the water is static toxic, is the stuff in my live sand dead?

Best answer:

Answer by fendpr
you’re suppose to put live rock in immediately to cycle the fish tank, then once all the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are set you can add fish, corals, and inverts.

How do you recharge a water softener pillow?

Question by the dude: How do you recharge a water softener pillow?
I see an Aquarium Pharmaceutical (brand) Water Softner Pillow for 5 bucks and wonder how do you recharge it?it says that you can recharge it. It uses this sodium thingy?

Best answer:

Answer by Akeath
Rinse the pillow in cut water, then grab the container it come in and put the pillow back in. Fill it to the brim with water, then add 3 Tablespoons of Aquarium Salt. After 2 hours of being submerged in that, the pillow will be recharged. You can leave it in there for storage. If you threw off the container, then any container not exposed to soap will do for this. You want 7 ounces of water and 3 Tablespoons of Aquarium Salt.

How do I clean my aquarium sponge filter without scattering the dirt in the water?

Question by spamela000: How do I clean my aquarium sponge filter without scattering the dirt in the water?
When I pull my sponge filter (from a suction cup) off the bottom of the tank up out of the aquarium all the dirt and slime spills into the water. There isn’t much left to wash off the sponge and the dirt is calming floating in the water. I’ve assaying grabbing the sponge with a paper towel or plastic bag over my hand to keep dirt from floating off, but it doesn’t seem to work.
