    you need to take …
you need to take the mother guppy out.
that is the only way to stop her from eating the fry.

you can buy a special breeder net for the guppies. when the mother has the babies, the fry drop through a slot in the bottom of the breeder, and the mother cant get them.

    i like using …
i like using different sized gravel, starting small, and ending large, marble and river stone sized.

this way, when the larvae swim down( which is what most do) they are able to hide in a place where it is impossible for the adults to get at them.

i got this idea when i saw a baby guppy living in the undergravel plate (not in use, just their) at school. it had to swim through the gaps of the gravel at the sideof the tank, and those were realy small, the next day i saw 5 more.

plants add oxygen and subtract co2 + detrimetnal nutrients. something other than the plants killed your tetras, my friend, unless you were smacking the fish with the plants.

plants and things for baby hiding spots help them alot if you wish to keep the maximum number of fry alive put your female in a baby saver a few days b4 she births or the second you know shes going to birth because thats the only way to garentee their survival.

  20. bibbling9000 says:

    u can buy a box …
u can buy a box called a hachary that floats in your tank and when your fish is a few days due put it in the hachary and when she drops the fry will fall through a gap to a lower section of the hachary then just turf the parent out of the hachary and feed the fry in that for about two weeks then they are ready to realese in to you tank and just keep an eye on them and if they get bullyed put them in the hachary for a nother week .

    you can feed baby …
you can feed baby guppies regular fish food just have to grind it up a lot, they will also eat the leftovers the adults leave behind

  23. Zouckubaz says:

    If you give the …
If you give the plant the right “needs” it will be benefitial to the fish, it holds good bacteria, gives the fish some food, its a natural form of filtration and it gives the water oxygen. I dont see how a plant made your tetras demented..

  24. hollynmel says:

    I thought that if …
I thought that if you put those plants into the tank, it takes all the air out of the water, and it kills your fish, because when i put one of those in with my tetras, it killed three of them so i took it out they started behaving naturally again. Am i right?

  25. BattlefieldDoktor says:

    Put in more plants, …
Put in more plants, especially big plants up to the surface. This makes it harder to the adults to find the small fries. The adults are eating anything fitting their mouths. So it is only a matter of luck if the fries can hide somewhere before they end in the stomanch of their relatives.
