rare freshwater tropical fish

This is our 85 gallon community aquarium which we set up in October 2007. We bought all the fish as babies last year and they’ve grown huge. As a result, the fish tank is very overcrowded. I am diligent with water quality and try to change 60% every 2 weeks or so. I know I’ll be criticized for the number of fish in this fishtank. Here’s the list of fish: 4Black Bar Myleus “Tetra disco” “Blackear Pacu” (Myleus Schomburgki) 3 Common Silver Dollar (Metynnis Hypsauchen or Argenteus) 2 Mystery Silver Dollars (Metynnis Mola or Luna) 1 Flagtail (Semaprochilodus taeniurus) 1 Silver Distichodus (Distichodus affinis) 1 Chinese Hi Fin “Hifin” Banded Shark (Myxocyprinus asiaticus) 1 Earth Eater Cichlid (Geophagus jurupari) 2 Fancy Goldfish (Carassius auratus) 4 Rosy Red Minnow (Pimephales promelas) 3 Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) 1 Keyhole Cichlid (Aequidens maroni) 4 Pleco (Plecostomus) 1 Royal Pleco (Panaque nigrolineatus) 1 Blue Gourami ((Trichogaster trichopterus) 9 Bumblebee Goby (Brachygobius xanthozona) 8 Black Neon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi) 3 Rasbora (Rasbora heteromorpha) 2 Albino White Cloud Minnow (Tanichthys albonubes) 2 Darter Fish 1 Bluefin Killifish? 9. nirobg says:

    dude to much fishes in this thank

  10. monotonespectrum says:

    No, tropical means warm water. Marine would be the term used for a salt water tank.

  11. snotbog1 says:

    yep

  12. VanWinick says:

    rare?

  13. snotbog1 says:

    Ever seen black-barred myleus before?

  14. irbenson says:

    60%/2 weeks is not a lot…that’s 30%/week.
    if you want HIGH quality water, try 50% everyday or every other day. that’s what many people growing out discus do.

  15. snotbog1 says:

    Yeah, well……big job, little time.

  16. irbenson says:

    keeping so many fish in one tank is not forced on you…give some fish away…

    or spend $50 on a python water changer and all u need to do is sit down for 2 mins on sunday while the water drains. then u flip the switch and sit down for 2 mins while the tank fills. and then u spend a minute measuring out water conditioner. 5 mins total. and if you can afford all these fish, you can afford $50 for a water changer.

  17. snotbog1 says:

    @irbenson

    pithon won’t work with our sink

  18. irbenson says:

    u can build ur own(really just a long plastic tube), or u can buy some kind of adaptor to attach to your sink or python

    i noticedyou have a heated tank with tropacail fish but yet you hve a gold fish how is that how did they survie? what do they eat? i want to no becuase i always wanted a goldfish in my tropical fish tank

  20. snotbog1 says:

    I don’t recommend you adding a goldfish. I removed mine. They’re happy with dry goldfish food but don’t overfeed.

    that is what I would call a FISHSOUP
    xD

  23. 8inary says:

    hmm whats rare about it other than you mixing cold water with tropical fish, not rare, I would say it makes you unfortunately look like you havent a clue about keeping fish

  24. 8inary says:

    lol rare? what is rare about it?

    Why are you mixing cold water fish with tropical fish, cant be good for the poor fish!

  25. snotbog1 says:

    @8inary

    The black bars are faily “rare” in fish stores. Others like the silver dist are also rarely seen.

    Goldfish no longer in the tank. The Hifin is not technically a cold water fish. They can tolerate temps easily to 80 degrees.

    Two most commonly asked questions. Answered over and over….(sigh)
