What are some good tropical fish to keep as pets?
I like big fish like Oscars but it said on a website they need a 50 gallon tankand that would be HUGE. Does anyone know any good fish i could keep as pets perhaps on their own (1-2 fish?) which require a smaller tank? Preferably tropical.

if you only wish to keep two fish then you have a good choice of cichlids… they fight with any other type of fish most of the time and thy breed easily but are very aggressive when they do. the good point in getting cichlids is they have the best Color’s you can get in tropical fish
look them up

First of all you need to decide whether to keep freshwater or saltwater fish – they are both tropical. Saltwater tanks are much more difficult to set up and more difficult to maintain and more expensive so I would always recomment freshwater for a beginner. However it does need some planning to set up – you need to know about what equipment you will need, heaters, lighting, filters. So you do need to commit to some ongoing maintenance once you have purchased everything.
If however you just want to keep a couple of goldfish then you do not need anything fancy but they are living creatures so you do need to understand the commitment before you start.

Convicts can do well in a 20g, they are smart, extremely easy to breed and only get 4-6 inches at max.
They are extremely aggressive and will take on 14 inch Oscars and win, so as you can see they have some ‘tude.
The pH, dGH temperature don’t have to be pinpoint exact, temp should be 72-81F, pH should be 6.5-8.6 and dGH can be 5-25.
They are very hardy and can adapt to many enviroments, they will probably uproot un-anchored plants and destroy any other tankmates, they will be sooooo aggressive during mating time so it is best to keep them by themselves when breeding them.
Good luck!!!~~~~<><~~~~><>~~~~

Yes you could keep that big fish in tank they said but you could probably collect smaller fish in a tiny tank! most Tropical fish have to be at a high temperature and in salt water! =]

Watch "Finding Nemo" if you have never seen it before and look for "Dory" at the pet store. Their quite pretty and easy to feed. They also don’t poo a lot.

well i have guarami. they r really fun to watch and easy to feed. they all kinds of different foods. they r a tough fish to. they normally stay at the top or middle of ur tank. we have about10 cat fish and one eal with our 6 gurami. but u dont need a big tank all u need is food a filter and a fish! but if u do get one got more than one because otherwise they will die of loneliness. the smallest tank u need is probably a 10 gallon and then u can keep even more than just gurami. it is just the right size if u only want a couple. well i have to go i would tell u more but i have to go. if u r interested in them email me or something on my profile thing. also i think u might like a tire track eal. at first they look gross because that is wat i thought wwen my brother and sister came home with one. i totlay freeked out. but once u get over it they r better than any fish. u will really enjoy watching it. hope it helps.
