tropical fresgwater? or tropical marine???
if freshwater i would say most of peopel are interested in arrowanas they require huge tanks 300gallons and more
if saltwater/marine personally im interested in lionfish ,batfish and anglers/stonefish/frogfish
The ‘best’ tropical fish is all a matter of opinion. Anything we’d say is the ‘best’ is what we like, not necessarily what you like. Also, since there are many thousands of different tropical fish species, it would be impossible to know which species is truely the best! I don’t even think there is a ‘best’ species, since all fish are wonderfully different and unique.
Maybe Animal Planets "The Most Extreme" should do an episode on the most extreme tropical fish.
guppies! they are perfect for begginners. for those of us who have the materials at our disposal however, a silver arowana is my all time favorite fish.
To me the most majestic looking fish for a freshwater tank is the Discus.
either the fish that loked like dori orr of nemo puffer fishes or clown fish.

For freshwater fish, I would say the Silver Dollars.
